Join local Indigenous artist-storyteller Brenda Mercer for this FREE EVENT in the galleries to learn about an impactful and poignant topic, the 60s Scoop. Explore the profound artwork of Globally- acclaimed George Littlechild, Here I Am- Can You See Me? (who himself is a survivor of the 60s scoop), followed by a sharing circle and crafting keepsake pouches. Gathering together, sharing stories and crafting together is a way to honour the past, celebrate Indigenous culture and grow together in the present.
Brenda Mercer is an Indigenous artist-storyteller who has been sharing her knowledge for over a decade with communities situated on the traditional lands of the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, Stoney-Nakoda, and Tsuut’ina as well as the Cree, Sioux, and the Saulteaux bands of the Ojibwa peoples, and homelands of the Metis Nation within region III. For more information on her artistic practice, find her on Instagram @redcliffperson and Facebook at White Horse Rider.
